Osumi Canyons

The Osumi Canyons have been carved out over millennia by the Osumi River, and are located in the Berat region. These Canyons have walls that reach as high as 150m from the river and show the brilliant colors and layers of earth that have been exposed by the timeless flow the the Osumi.

The river varies in width, depth, and flow, but offers paddlers an interesting ride—particularly in spring, when the rains have increased water levels. Spectacular sights await you on this journey. No fewer than eight waterfalls cascade down, showcasing the raw power of the river.

This unspoiled, unique place is truly a marvel. The waters run crystal clear off nearby Tomorri Mountain. The spiritual connection one feels with nature after traversing the Canyon is difficult to explain, but many claim it has been a life changing experience.

Guide

Travelers wishing to embark on the Osumi Canyon trip should arrive in the morning at Castle Park. The drive to the Canyon is 60km and takes about an hour and a half. After arriving at the Canyon, the guides will assist you in preparation for the adventure. This trip will provide magnificent scenery as you float by the Canyon walls and will certainly make for a memorable experience. Eight waterfalls, a cathedral, the unspoiled nature, and the soothing sounds of running water combine to create a truly unique trip. A packaged lunch is prepared in advance and will be served under the blue waterfall. The river trip lasts about 3—4 hours, and depends largely on the water level.

Departure from the Canyons.

Itinerary permitting, some trip participants may opt to meet with a regatta team in Corovoda. The trip requires a minimum of 5 people, and can accommodate a maximum of 15 people.

Day One

This two day itinerary allows for a night’s accommodations at the Castle Park Hotel and a more leisurely, direct departure from the hotel the following morning.

After arriving at the Hotel, take some time to relax and enjoy your historic, finely crafted quarters. You will be enchanted by the fresh scent of surrounding pines and the sound of songbirds. This tranquil environment is truly rejuvenating to the body, mind, and spirit. Enjoy a scrumptious traditional dinner prepared by our chef and served either indoors or out, depending on your preference. All your needs will be attended to by our courteous and professional staff.

Day Two

Awake refreshed and enjoy breakfast at the Hotel. Embark on the drive to the Canyon, which is 60km and takes about an hour and a half.
